The Empty Tomb

The Empty Tomb Evidence for the TRUTH of Christianity, let’s look at exhibit A: The Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Luke, the first-century physician/scientist/chronicler, was a historian of the first order. His meticulous research and verifiable accuracy put him head and shoulders above his secular peers. Two great works of his found their way into the canon of Scripture. The Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles, both advance the view that Jesus of Nazareth rose physically from the tomb on the first day of the wee. In relating this, Luke does not expect us to just swallow it by blind faith. He presents it as an event in history, verifiable and backed by evidence He opens his gospel by telling us that, prior to composing his biography of Chris, he “carefully investigated everything from the beginning” so that we would “know the certainly of the things” we have been taught (Luke 1:3,4). He opens the book of Acts with these words: “He presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God” (Acts 1:3 ESV). These “many proofs” substantiate the resurrection of Jesus Christ for good reason. All of Christianity hinges on the resurrection. Paul spells it out for us; “And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and you faith is in vain” (1 Corinthians 15:14 ESV). See also 1 Corinthians 15:17 saying “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost..” Creationist Henry Morris put it this way: “The bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is the crowning proof of Christianity. If the resurrection did not take place, then Christianity is a false religion. If it did take place, then Christ is God and the Christian faith is absolute.”
